Thanks for visiting our ECHO Lab!

I joined the University of Georgia in 1996 and am a Professor of Psychology in the Industrial-Organizational (I-O) Psychology Program. Broadly speaking, my research interests are in the area of relationships and occupational health, with a special emphasis on mentoring and the healthcare workforce. Over the past 20+ years I have published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in scholarly outlets such as the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Management, among others. I have also co-edited three books with my longtime collaborator and close friend, Dr. Tammy Allen [Blackwell Handbook of Mentoring (2007), Personal Relationships (2012), The Oxford Handbook of Work and Family (2016). I am currently serving as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Applied Psychology and am a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and the Owens Institute for Behavioral Research. To support of my research on work stress, turnover, and mentoring among the healthcare workforce. I have received several large grants from the National Institute on Drug Abuse focusing on stress, burnout and turnover among the substance abuse treatment workforce. In addition to my role in the I-O Program here at UGA, I am the Director of the Owens Institute for Behavioral Research (OIBR), a service unit under the Office for Research that encourages, supports, and enhances multi-disciplinary research across campus. As you can see from the photos, I love to travel and spend time doing fun outdoor adventures with my family.
